“ILM” or “Knowledge” literal meaning: to know, to understand. In more technical terms it means to know a unknown things, to learn unknown things etc.

Knowledge is a powerful tool that enables one to search for unknown objects which distinguishes truth from false, good from bad, praiseworthy from unpraiseworthy. It is also comparable to a light, which illuminates a knowledgeable person just as a light illuminates all surroundings.

Types of knowledge:

There are two types of knowledge: (1) Knowledge of Deen (2) Knowledge of worldly pursuit. The knowledge of Deen is only to Qur’an and Sunnah and other necessary means to understand both of these knowledge. In contrast, the worldly knowledge is attached to gaining the knowledge of this progressive world such as, Science, Doctorate, Engineering, Law, Politics and Social study and many more. Apparently which is also needed for all human beings more or less to have a better social living standard.
